The Eagles stayed perfect in the preseason with a win over the Indianapolis Colts 33-23. The starters played well into the third quarter, and they did impress. This being the last dress rehearsal before the regular season, the Eagles are looking strong.
We cannot talk about the Eagles without mentioning the defense. For the majority of the first half, the Eagles’ defense was causing havoc. Colts quarterback Andrew Luck was under constant pressure. From what we saw from the defense, they are looking very sharp going into the season.
Sam Bradford had a great night as well. He completed 17-20 passes for 167 yards and two touchdowns. He hit newly acquired wide receiver with a perfectly placed pass in the endzone for his first touchdown. For his second touchdown, he found tight end Trey Burton wide open for the score. Bradford took what the defense gave him and had a solid night.
One of the stars of the night was Josh Huff. He came into this game with a lot on the line. He scored the first touchdown of the game with a nine yard run. He also caught two passes for 60 yards. He made three huge plays, three plays which saved his spot on the Eagles.
To round out the Eagles scoring, backup quarterback Chase Daniel threw a 28 yard touchdown to wide receiver David Watford. It is unlikely for Watford to make the team. However, he made a nice play.
The last points the Eagles had in this game were from two Caleb Sturgis field goals. He looks to have beaten out Cody Parkey for the kicking job.
When it is all said and done, I think you can say that this game showed a lot. The Eagles have came a long way since the first preseason game. Head coach Doug Pederson showed us he can get the best out of players, especially Josh Huff and Dorial Green-Beckham. Going into the season, I think the Eagles are set up nicely to have a good year. There is still one more preseason game left versus the New York Jets. Let’s hope the Eagles get another win and close out the preseason 4-0.
