Jamel Major
Cornerback
Oklahoma Panhandle State University
IOG: What drew you to OPSU?
Jamel: Just me playing as a true freshman, as well as me creating a bond with my defensive backs coach.
IOG: Favorite moment in your playing career? Returning a blocked extra point 97 yards for a touchdown, as well as sealing the victory in the same game with an interception in the end zone.
IOG: What offers did you have out of high school?
Jamel: Minnesota Duluth, Bethune Cookman, and Georgia Southern.
IOG: What do you have to offer at CB?
Jamel: I'm a very smart corner, who can take the best Reciever out of the game. I'm very good in press coverage or off-man. I have great footwork, and make-up speed. And not afraid to make a tackle.
IOG: Are you versatile enough if needed to play other positions? Special teams, Safety, WR?
Jamel: Yes, I believe I can be a good slot Reciever, as well as return kick returns.
IOG: With so many teams interested in longer rangy CBs do you feel like your height is a limitation or do you play bigger than your size?
Jamel: I believe my size is not a problem, if anything it's an advantage because I can lockdown the slots as well as the wide-outs. My technique is very good, so pressing won't be an issue, and if the ball is in the air, I'm athletic enough to either deflect it or intercept it. I play way bigger then my size shows, I believe I can run with the best.
IOG: Do you play all CB positions?
Jamel: Yes sir. I'm very agile and athletic enough to do it all.
IOG: What is your 40 time?
Jamel: Right now my 40 time is around a 4.48, but I look to improve it by the end of the summer.
IOG: Where you expect to get drafted?
Jamel: Around the 7th round or signing with a team as an undrafted free-agent. I will make an immediate impact regardless where I go.
IOG: Favorite team and athlete?
Jamel: My favorite team are the Miami Dolphins, and my favorite athlete would be Tyrann Mathieu, because he just makes an impact everywhere on the field.
IOG: Who would you want to play for if you had your pick?
Jamel: I would love to play for my home team, the Miami Dolphins. But it really doesn't matter who I play for, I just want the opportunity to play in the NFL.
IOG: Who did you admire in football growing up?
Jamel: I admired Deion Sanders growing up. He was just a great athlete all around.
IOG: Who do you compare your game to?
Jamel: I compare my game to Tim Jennings, he's currently at the Chicago Bears and he's also an undersized corner like myself, but plays with a chip on his shoulder and has been very successful in the NFL.
IOG: Message to the fans.
Jamel: My message to all my fans if any, "never let anyone tell you what what you can't be, chase your dreams"
