The 2019 schedule is finally here and for the New York Jets they will be looking to prove to everyone that they are ready to compete at the highest level as well as eliminating the losing culture that we as Jets fans have been suffering for about a decade. The season opens up at MetLife stadium against a Buffalo Bills team that most people believe they are in the same boat as the Jets in terms of dismantling the Patriots and developing their second year quarterback Josh Allen. This will be second meeting between Darnold and Allen, both players worked out together during the off season so this could be another interesting competition for both teams.
Looking at the rest of the schedule, the Jets have three prime time games against the Patriots and Browns on Monday night, and Ravens on Thursday night in week 15. The two Monday night games should be intriguing because not only would it be a rematch from last years Thursday night against the Browns, but it will also be the return of Odell Beckham Jr. to the Meadowlands. The second one is the division rival New England Patriots and as Adam Gase told his team during their work out program is that they want to beat the Patriots and win the division, well they will get their first crack at it during week 3.
The Jets have been talking about developing a winning culture throughout the off season and so far they brought in a new staff, signed some impact players, and introduced a whole new look uniform wise but can they actually get above .500 and fight for a playoff spot? They have the second easiest schedule this year and not to mention that they don't have to take any trips out west or to London. All of their games will be in eastern time zones and that makes a huge difference and they don't have back to back road games until weeks 8 and 9.
One of the biggest issues this team had last year was the inability to close out games, if they can do that this year there's no excuse why this team can't succeed this year. My prediction for this year depending on how they attack the draft, I would say this team will go 8-8 with the optimism of a 10-6 with squeezing in with the 6th spot of the playoffs.
