The New York Jets are looking the bounce back after losing to Baker Mayfield and the Cleveland Browns a week ago on thursday night against The tough Jacksonville Jaguars. The Jets have won 4 out of the last 5 meetings between this Jaguars team but make no mistake, this is still a very tough team to go up against especially with your rookie quarterback going up against one of the best defenses in the NFL right now. The Jaguars (2-1) will be looking to advance to 3-1 for the second time in two years, but the Jets will look to deny them again just like they did last year after an overtime victory, there was a little optimism after starting 2-0 with an impressive win against the Patriots but was stunned last week against the Tennessee Titans last week. Here’s what to look for in tomorrow's matchup.
Sam Darnold vs Jalen Ramsey and the Jaguars defense:This will be the rookie quarterbacks toughest test as he will be going up against a Jaguars defense who are ranked second in points allowed, and 4th in passing yards, however they do rank 21st in rushing yards allowed on a defensive line that consists of Marcell Dareus, Malik Jackson, and Calais Campbell. The Jets have a one-two punch in Powell and Crowell which they could use to their advantage but Jeremy Bates needs to get more creative to help Darnold.
Leonard Fournette returns after missing two straight games: After leaving the game in the second half of the week 1 matchup against the Giants, Leonard Fournette will return in the lineup this week and reprise his RB1 role again. Since he has been out, Bortles has carried the load and has thrown for a total of 531 yards, 4 TDs and an interception, I don’t expect him to have a big game through the air since Fournette is coming back. Not to mention that this is a newly upgraded offensive line since they added guard Andrew Norwell.
Bold Predictions:
1) Robby Anderson lights a spark in this Jets offense and has an 100 yard, 1 TD game against Jacksonville secondary
2)Jets defense records three interceptions and a fumble against the Jaguars offense.
3)Sam Darnold throws for 3 TDs and 350 yards
