Training camp is upon us. The Philadelphia Eagles are taking the field today, beginning their quest to repeat as Super Bowl Champions. As camp starts, energy is high and the Eagles culture couldn’t be better. To begin camp, the Eagles got a great piece of news, quarterback Carson Wentz did not need to go on the PUP list. The PUP list would of had made him unable to participate in practice until he is taken off the list. Although he is still going to be limited, he’ll still participate in team drills and 7 on 7. In other news, defensive end Brandon Graham is going to be on the PUP list. He’s recovering from a post Super Bowl ankle surgery and is not ready to go as of yet. His absence opens the door for a few younger guys as well as new addition Michael Bennett. The rest of the team is set and ready to compete. Competition is what fuels the Eagles and there are a couple of key positions to watch. WILL linebacker, third safety, wide receiver two and slot cornerback are the four areas the Eagles need someone to step up in. There’s a bunch of players capable of, but we’ll see who’s left at the end of camp. More so than the others, slot cornerback is going to be the most important battle. Slot cornerbacks are on the field as much as any other cornerbacks and last season Patrick Robinson really stepped up for the team. Losing him to the New Orleans Saints was a big blow, however. It opens the door for Sidney Jones. Other names to watch are DeVante Bausby and possible Jalen Mills. With a few coaching changes and a few additions, it’s important through out camp and the season the Eagles are able to maintain their rock solid culture and environment. The Eagles have something special and they must take all the right measures to maintain it. We’re going to learn a lot about the Eagles and the new players this camp. Luckily for them, there was not too much of a overhaul and complacency is not going to be an issue. Football is back and the Eagles are ready to repeat.
