The Philadelphia Eagles and their Super Bowl caliber defense play against the red hot Atlanta Falcons at Lincoln Financial Field; in the Divisional Round of the NFC playoffs. The Eagles’ defense finished top-five in points allowed and rushing yards allowed per game. Last week the Falcons beat the Los Angeles Rams, but it appeared the Rams truly beat themselves more than anything else. L.A. had two turnovers on special teams, went a dismal 25-percent in the red zone, and only had their offense on the field for 22-minutes. In those 22-minutes, the Falcons allowed the Rams to accumulate over 100 rushing yards on only 16 attempts and allowed a near 250 passing yards while also giving up 19 first downs. Even with Nick Foles at quarterback, the Eagles are still a very talented team with an offense who still averages almost 18-points per game without an MVP candidate in Carson Wentz. Zach Ertz and Alshon Jeffery the Eagles’ best receiving threats combined for 17-touchdowns this year. Foles will target these guys early and as often as possible. But, for the Eagles to win they must run the ball effectively, which in result gives them a better chance of dominating time of possession. The Eagles are expected to rely on running back Jay Ajayi heavily this week, while rotating LeGarrette Blount and Corey Clement in as well. It is very important that the Eagles get out to an early lead, it’ll force the Falcons to throw which will allow the Eagles to unleash their best weapon - their pass rush. The Eagles have arguably the best rush defense in the NFL, they tallied 38-sacks and if they can get to Matt Ryan turnovers may start to be created, which is exactly what the Eagles need. The Eagles go into this game as severe underdogs, they will come out hyped, well rested and their coaches and players will hold nothing back. The Eagles were 7-1 at home this year, and the weather in Philadelphia may play a part in this game - Eagles win 27-21
