On the last Monday Night Football game of 2017, the Nick Foles led Eagles (12-2) battle the Oakland Raiders (6-8) in Philadelphia. The Eagles can clinch home field advantage throughout the playoffs with a win tonight. Last game, the Eagles backup quarterback impressed the whole city of Philadelphia and the entire NFL. Foles threw for over 200-yards and four touchdowns on a day where the Eagles leaned heavily on the passing game. Tight end Zach Ertz, wide receivers Alshon Jeffery and Nelson Agholor were all key to the Eagles and Foles’ success in last week’s win. Even though Foles surpassed all expectations, the Eagles must depend on the run game. Last week Jay Ajayi led the team in rushing attempts with 12 and LeGarrette Blount carried the ball only seven times. It’s not a secret Eagles head coach Doug Pederson loves the passing game, but he must depend on the run game the rest of the way and into the postseason. The offense cannot depend on Foles, he is not Carson Wentz. Something that should have Eagles’ fans frightened is that the team’s defense looked putrid. They allowed a depleted New York Giants team to score 29-points and pass for almost 500-yards, but they did hold the Giants to only 75-rushing yards. Even though this year has been a complete disaster for the Raiders, who many predicted to win the AFC they can still compete with anybody. Raiders quarterback Derek Carr is special and his down year isn’t his fault, Oakland must fire their head coach Jack Del Rio and hire an offensive minded head coach to take Carr to the next level. Banking that the Eagles defense gets back on track and Foles has a dependable running game, Eagles win on Christmas 27-17.
