The New York Jets season opener is just about two days away before they take on their AFC east rival Buffalo Bills at New Era Field sunday afternoon. Now a lot of people are saying that the Jets are going to “tank” this season because they have got rid of all their players like Mangold, Revis, Marshall, Decker, and Harris, they wanted to rebuild for the future which was the right move to make. In all Honesty, I don’t think the Jets will be as bad as people think they will, I think they will be competitive but more or less 3 wins. Here are some things to watch for this game on Sunday.
Wide Receivers: The young group of wide receivers will be put to the test being that their number 1 WR Quincy Enunwa hurt his ankle during the green and white practice, but the Jets did get a couple of receivers as well bringing in Jermaine Kearse from a trade with Seattle and bringing back ex Jet Jeremy Kerley. This leaves Robby Anderson to go back to the number 2 receiver which I think fits him better and against a Buffalo Bills secondary who looked pretty good in the preseason, they need all the help they can get.
Offensive line: The offensive line looked horrendous in the preseason as they couldn’t run the ball at all and going against a Bills defensive line that consists of Lawson, Hughes, Williams, and Darius, Josh McCown is in for a long day if the o line can’t keep him upright during the game.
Defense: They have just recently traded Sheldon Richardson, and cut Harris and Revis but gained a young corner in Morris Claiborne who when is healthy is a good corner. Plus they drafted two safeties Jamal Adams and Marcus Maye who will get the start and for the first time since the 1960’s the Jets will start two rookie safeties. I’m very interested in seeing how will the defensive line and the linebackers will perform especially second year play Darron Lee who will get the start.
Overall, this is going to be a very long game for both fans but I see the Jets play very competitively and it will be a low scoring game but I still think this game will be a win for Buffalo, if they don’t then every jet fan will have their mouths drop.
