Dion Lewis: The One That Got Away by Ryan Neal

Today is Superbowl Sunday and as Eagles fans, we will watch the players we let go thrive in the game tonight. There are a couple of players on the Patriots who the Eagles let go. The one player I am sure the Eagles would love to have back is Dion Lewis, he is the one that got away.

Back in 2013, the Eagles traded Dion Lewis to the Browns in exchange for Emmanuel Acho. Recently, Acho reflected on the move via Twitter saying, “To think, I got traded for #DionLewis back in 2013.... someone needs to be fired for that. He a beast!”

Acho was not much of a player for the Eagles. He played just three seasons for the Eagles. In those three seasons, he racked up 33 tackles.

Of course, you could not have predicted how good Lews would be. He is a very underrated runner of the ball, and he is very deadly when he catches the ball. Lewis also has the ability to return a punt to the house.

However, in the Eagles current state, Lewis is a perfect fit for their offense. He would have been perfect. Being just 26 years old, he is almost like a younger Darren Sproles. Lewis is exactly what the Eagles need and hope to get in this years’ draft.

Every franchise gets rid of players too early in their career. Sometimes these moves come back and bite them in the butt. This move will definitely be remembered by the Eagles. Lewis is the one who got away.
