When the Eagles traded Eric Rowe, it sent Eagles nation into panic. Who trades a promising cornerback in their second season?
To make matter worse, the Eagles had the 32nd ranked secondary by PFF.com and now Rowe is playing in the Super Bowl. When asked about the trade, the Eagles and GM Howie Roseman assured us he did not fit. They were also pretty please with the value they were getting.
One thing is for sure, the Eagles really did not get any value for Rowe. They received a conditional fourth round pick, that is it.
Not even Rowe knows the real reason why he was traded, here is what he said in a recent interview with NJ.com.
"I don't know what happened," Rowe told NJ Advance Media. "Obviously you want to get better at your position. I didn't think I did that bad of a job to slide down the depth chart. I wasn't getting get beat deep. I was getting a lot of pass breakups on deep balls and I know I probably needed to start pulling some of them down for interceptions but I don't think that was the reason.
Obviously, Rowe is still as confused as Eagles fans. The Eagles gave up on a 2nd round pick in his second year. The idea of that pretty scary to think about. For now, all you can say is, what were they thinking? As for Rowe, let’s hope he has a great Super Bowl.
