Week 1 proved that there is no exact science when it comes to daily fantasy. I had some pretty decent value picks last week but but that was not the case for my Pick of the Week at each position.. they were downright putrid. Daily fantasy is like riding a roller coaster, you have to be ready for the ups and downs.
Value plays at QB:
Pick of the Week: Derek Carr $8300 vs Atlanta. I know what you are thinking.. $8300 is a pretty high price. That might be true as he is the 6th highest priced QB this week, however, I think his matchup at home vs the Falcons D is just too good to pass up.
Josh MCCown $6000 vs Ravens. I love back up QB's in daily fantasy. McCown is a little risky but he is the lowest valued starter this week in my opinion. I actually think the Browns have some decent weapons that could match up well against the Ravens.
Trevor Siemian $6400 vs Colts: Again, a little risky playing a guy in his 2nd ever start but I think you need to have at least 1 lineup with him in it, The Colts D is borderline embarrassing. This could be a great opportunity.
Other QB Value plays I like: Carson Wentz $6900 @ Chicago, Jimmy Garoppolo $7100 vs Miami, Eli Manning $8100 VS Saints.
Value plays at RB:
I was contacted by a reader last week and I promised him I would explain my RB/WR picks a little clearer.. When it comes to the guys I talk about as value plays at RB or WR, it doesn't necessarily mean I would play 2 from the list in the same line up.. I don't need to tell you Gurley or Antonio Brown for example are solid starts.. These guys I mention are nice compliments that allow you to keep your cap reasonable so you can afford that top tier RB or WR.
RB Pick of the Week: CJ Anderson $7800 vs Indy: Similar to my thoughts on using Siemian, Anderson is a strong play against a weak defense.. Hint: You may start noticing a theme starting players against the Colts.
DeAngelo Williams $7600 vs Cincy: After the strong performance against the Redskins I am a little surprised to see WIlliams value did not jump to $8000 plus. The Jets ran the ball well vs Cincy, I expect the Steelers can do the same.
Latavius Murray $7100 vs Atlanta: Strong play and solid value against a below average defense. My only fear starting Murray is if this game turned into a shootout he is sure to lose touches.
Other RB Value plays I like: Spencer Ware $6800 @ Texans (If no Charles), T.J. Yeldon $6500 @Chargers (If no Ivory).
Value Plays at WR:
WR Pick of the Week: Amari Cooper $7900 vs Atlanta: This might be my favorite pick overall this week. Anytime you can get a WR1 in an offense that likes to throw the ball.. pick them! Even though he did not get in the end zone last week, Cooper had 11 targets, 6 catches for 137 yards. He should have double digit targets this week as well. That equals opportunity!
Emmanual Sanders $6700 vs Colts: I think I have beat the Colts defense up pretty good this week, so you get the idea here.. Double digit targets is almost a guarantee.
Kelvin Benjamin $7500 vs 49’ers: Cam loved having Benjamin back last week which is evident by his 12 targets against a very good Denver D. $7500 is a very reasonable price to pay.
Other WR Value plays I like: Mohamed Sanu $6700 at Oak, Chris Hogan $4700 vs Miami. Willie Snead $7200 @ Giants, Sterling Shepard $6200 vs Saints.
Value plays at TE:
TE Pick of the Week: Greg Olsen $7600 vs SF: Slim pickings at the TE spot but its hard not to love Olsen under $8000
Other WR Value plays I like: Jordan Reed $7400 Vs Dallas, Eric Ebron $5500 vs Titans
Kicker Value Plays: Brandon McManus $4700 vs Colts, Sebastian Janikowki $4600 Atlanta.
Defense Value Plays NE $4500 vs Miami, Philly $4800 @ Chicago (Monday)
Value Stacks
Jimmy Garoppolo $7100 with Chris Hogan $4700/ Julian Eddelman $7100 and NE Defense $4500 vs Miami: This is a 3 player Stack using either Eddelman or Hogan (Not both). Garoppolo had a strong first outing and I think he earned a little trust with "The Genius" look for the Patriots to put up some points in their home opener. The value here allows you to spend some decent money at other positions.
Trevor Siemian $6400 and Emmanual Sanders $6700 with Brandon McManus $4700 vs Colts. So if you read this article and did not think I would have a stack against the Colts Defense, you guessed wrong. Not only do I think these 3 will put up points but using these 3 players allows you over $7000 to spend per position.. now that's value! **See my sample line up using this stack below..
Derek Carr $8300 with Amari Cooper $7900 and Sebastian Janikowski $4600 vs Atlanta. A little more expensive then my anti Colts selection but I like this one almost as much. The AC/DC connection could be deadly and Sea Bass is always a candidate for some long field goals.
BONUS PLAYS!!!
QB: Matt Stafford $7800 vs Titans
RB: Jeremy Langford $6500 vs Philly
WR: Tajee Sharpe $6000 vs Detroit
BONUS STACK:
CJ Anderson $7800 with Brandon McManus $4700 vs Indy
SAMPLE LINEUP: This is a basic lineup using my Anti Colts stack. What I like about this stack is that it allows me to grab a high priced RB and WR in the same lineup. There are a million different combo's you can use with this stack. This is just one of many I will use this weekend.
