Well same old questions, different week as the New York Jets again lose for the 4th straight time in a row. This time though was completely embarrassing, I mean my goodness I even turned the game off after the first quarter. The defense was terrible, the offense was inconsistent, and how about this, Geno Smith actually came into the game in the 4th quarter! There is so much to talk about, so I am going to try my best to keep my cool because at this point I’m frustrated and I’m sure Jets fans feel the same.
Let’s start with the offense, Ryan Fitzpatrick was completely inaccurate, he looked like how he played in Buffalo after he got his big contract but the difference is that he has good wide receivers. Let me start by saying that he never deserved the contract he got because Fitz got lucky last year. He did throw for 31 touchdowns but could’ve easily threw just as many interceptions if it weren’t for the help of his wide receivers. Fitzpatrick went 16/31 for 174 yards and an interception before being replaced by Geno Smith. The offense could not convert on third down as they were 2-13. They couldn’t get anything down on the ground as they rushed for a total of 33 yards, so that doesn’t help one bit either. Matt Forte and Bilal Powell couldn’t get into any kind of rhythm at all. The offense today was completely awful, it’s hard to believe that this was the same team that destroyed the Bills defense.
Speaking of defense, they were no better either. David Johnson ran over this supposedly best run stop defense in the NFL. He ran for 111 yards and three touchdowns, and the Jets had 10 penalties for 83 yards. This was supposed to be the best defense in the league and right now, the Cleveland Browns look like a better team than the Jets and I truly mean that! Todd Bowles looks like a deer in the headlights, not having a clue of what he’s doing.
This loss was just absolutely frustrating, it hurts being a Jets fan sometimes because we have to deal with this nonsense. But the team across town looks like they got everything in order. I believe in Macc and Bowles, but I think it’s time that the Jets face reality and start rebuilding. This is an older team that looks like father time has caught up to them, they need to get younger. I can take a couple of losing seasons, as long as it builds into a winning team. The Vikings did it, the Jaguars are doing it and the Raiders did it. Those three teams look like a competitive football team that I am really excited about. I think it’s time that the Jets do the same because it’s just going to get worse from here on out.
