The Jets have entered the second half of their schedule, which is one of the easiest remaining schedule in the NFL. After what has been a very rough start for this team who have battled injuries, illness, bad offensive performances, to recently seeing "ghosts." The offense has been terrible this year even when healthy they have accumulated 1254 net yards this season, which is the fewest in the NFL according to ProFootballrefernce. Adam Gase has a good opportunity to right the ship here and get his offense into a rhythm or even see who he wants to keep on the roster next year, since the NFL trade deadline is almost here and we've been hearing that Robby Anderson as well as Leonard Williams could be on the move.
It's all about having a short term memory for the New York Jets after getting blown out by the New England Patriots on Monday night, as they will take on the Jacksonville Jaguars who got back in the win column last week against the Cincinnati Bengals. Although the Jaguars have been struggling this year, their defense has been good despite trading away Jalen Ramsey a couple weeks ago. Their defensive line has a 9.2% QB knockdown rate (3rd) in the NFL, as well as a 30.5% pressure rate and 21 sacks (4th) according to NFL.com. The Jets offensive line has allowed 26 sacks this year, so they need to do a better job keeping Darnold upright if they want any chance of winning.
Despite allowing 34 points last week against, the Jets defense has hardly been the problem at all. They have only allowed 74 yards on 34 carries against the Patriots, which averaged a 2.2 YPC to their running backs. The run defense has been great, which can be a problem for the Jaguars whose offense is built around Leonard Fournette. If the Jets can force the Jaguars to be one dimensional, that could benefit this team as they hope to bounce back.
